Thy Kingdom Come
We encourage you to join in with this prayer movement this week.
IN LUTON we have given out prayer cards (attached) and are inviting the church in Luton to use these to pray for Luton this week.
Let’s pray that in Luton
– people’s hearts are made pure (Monday)
– people’s hands are made clean (Tuesday)
– we are focussed on what is constructive and good (Wednesday)
– we are able to listen to one another’s stories (Thursday)
– we speak to one another in a respectful way (Friday)
– we are people to bring good news to one another (Saturday)
– we bring healing and wellness to one another (Sunday)
We can of course use the cards to pray these things for ourselves as well as for our churches.
You may also be interested in signing up to daily emails from Thy Kingdom Come. They come with a prompt to pray for 5 friends, as well as a very good podcast and a video that looks at a different aspect of prayer.
The email below is Day 1, to give you a taster.

Youthscape will be hosting Pentecost Praise next Sunday, 9th June, 6:30 pm at St Mary’s Church (LU1 3JF)
Soul Survivor Band will be playing. Malcolm Duncan will be speaking.
We believe it will be a great time for the church in Luton to get together to worship and pray.
Bring your young people!

Day 1
Listen and watch as Tom Wright talks about who Jesus really is: Day 1 #Jesus
During TKC we encourage people to pray for 5 people they know to come to faith in Jesus. Each day there will be a Reflection to help us do this. If you haven’t already, think of five friends who don’t know the love of God for them in Christ.

‘I regard everything as loss because of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.’ Philippians 3:8 (NRSV)
… your five friends in the presence of Jesus of Nazareth.
… for your five friends to encounter Jesus in all His grace, challenge, and love, that they might say with St Paul, ‘For me to live is Christ’.
‘I would rather die and come to Jesus Christ than be king over the entire earth. Him I seek who died for us; Him I love who rose again because of us.’ – Ignatius of Loyola

Acts 1: 6-14

The Ascension of Jesus

6 So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, is this the time when you will restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 He replied, “It is not for you to know the times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” 9 When he had said this, as they were watching, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. 10 While he was going and they were gazing up toward heaven, suddenly two men in white robes stood by them. 11They said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up toward heaven? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”

12 Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a sabbath day’s journey away. 13 When they had entered the city, they went to the room upstairs where they were staying, Peter, and John, and James, and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. 14 All these were constantly devoting themselves to prayer, together with certain women, including Mary the mother of Jesus, as well as his brothers.
