Dear Colleague & Friend
Over the last 2-3 years, Luton Council has supported the corporate volunteering day with businesses such as TUI, Vauxhall, Whitbread, Alliance and many more organisations to take on a day of volunteering this could be anything from painting the inside and buildings/halls/rooms play equipment, to building a chicken coup and more. Many volunteers from TUI have returned to us every year looking for more opportunities. We currently have 3 large teams of 50-75 waiting for an opportunity right now.
If you are a small voluntary/community organisation that has short /small pieces of work that needs to be done then our aim is to promote your idea to the corporate volunteers from local businesses and match them up with opportunities. Some ideas might be things like:
o Painting a community spaces, equipment
o Environmental Projects
o Erecting a gazebo, tables or benches
o Mentoring (new term)
o Making or building raised flower beds
o Make Vegetable boxes, fences, etc.
o Many more ideas
If you have an idea and need help in making it become a reality please let us know your ideas by completing the attached form (see attached) and include any pictures if you have any. Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to call or email us on VCS@luton.gov.uk Please feel free to forward this email to other colleagues or organisations you know who could benefit from this opportunity. Please note this is a wish list and we cannot guarantee it will be done.
What is Corporate Volunteering?
‘Corporate Volunteering’ – basically is local businesses who want to ‘give’ something back to the community. In the last 3 years we have seen some successful partnerships and some great projects completed by these corporate teams who are keen to repeat the experience again this year – for photos of previous projects www.facebook.com/VolunteerLuton
In addition to this project we are now involved in a variety of initiatives to support the Voluntary & Community groups in Luton – this includes providing information subscriptions to Voluntary Works, Training opportunity and information about how to find funding and promoting your service. Please contact me for further information on either my own email or the VCS email, Christine.firstname.lastname@example.org or VCS@luton.gov.uk . An application form is attached.
Look forward to hearing from you.
