Chanukah Lighting Ceremony,

Luton United Synagogue

656 Dunstable Road, Luton LU4 8SE

4:20pm Sunday 29 December 2019

On behalf of the Luton United Synagogue you are cordially invited to our annual lighting of Chanukah Candles, which will take place at Luton United Synagogue at 4:20pm on 29th December.  This is a short ceremony to which we invite others to share.  It commemorates the restoration of the Temple in Jerusalem in the second century BCE from the Seleucid Empire and the miracle of only one day’s supply of oil for the everlasting candle lasting eight days.  These events were critical for the survival of Judaism.  Please note that this is a change in venue from previous years, when the ceremony was held mid week on an evening in St Georges Square.

We provide doughnuts (traditionally eaten at Chanukah) and music and is an opportunity to see the synagogue and meet members of the Jewish Community.  We hope that you are able to attend.  Please reply to the email below.

Could you please ask that anyone planning to attend the Chanukah Ceremony provide their name to the synagogue on visitors@lutonsynagogue.org.uk or on chairman@lutonsynagogue.org.uk.
