Level Trust Summer Newsletter

| 0

Welcome to the August Level Trust newsletter! Summer is truly here, which means we’re buzzing with activity.

To celebrate the first anniversary of the Uniform Exchange, we thought it would be good to take stock of what we’ve achieved over the past year.

We have had over 1,560 visitors to the Exchange and given away more than3,330 items of uniform, saving families about £23,300. Isn’t that amazing?!

Since this time last year, we have given winter coats to 304 children and school shoes to 445 children, so they can go to school feeling warm, comfortable and like they fit in. In June, we gave Learn@Home packs to 550 3-5 year olds and 170 GCSE students so they have the resources they need to learn outside the classroom.

This summer we’ll be working with up to 450 children on SMASH, our exciting and enriching summer scheme. They’ll be having a go at performing arts, trying their hand at different sports, and adventuring into the great outdoors. A lot of the children will be trying these things for the first time, so it’s going to be great fun!

We couldn’t help all these children and their families without you, and the support of our absolutely brilliant volunteers, project partners and funders, so we’d like to say a huge thank you!

And now here are some highlights for the year ahead…

Our fantastic partners Machins Solicitors are throwing a fundraising party in our honour.

Join us at The Bear Club from 7pm on Wednesday 17th October for a night of rock and soul from The Untouchables. Tickets are £15 and include food and live music, plus there’ll be a paying bar. We can’t wait! Book your tickets now.

Marathon place up for grabs

We announced last month that Level Trust has bagged a space in the London Marathon on Sunday 28th April 2019 and we’re looking for the right person to fill it. You can apply to be our champion by filling out our application form before Sunday 26th August.

If running’s not your thing but you know someone who loves it, please pass this on to them!

Help us win £4,000

If you’re shopping in Tesco this month, please vote for us to win £4,000 through their Bags of Help community grant scheme! Drop your blue token into the Level Trust box on your way out of Tesco stores in and around Luton every time you shop until the end of August. We’ll use the money for our Learn@Home packs, which give vital learning resources to children who need them.

Join us for our 2019 fundraising challenge: a sponsored trek along Dorset’s beautiful and dramatic Jurassic Coast!

This tough challenge will have you trekking 30 kilometres in 1 day along the South West Coast Path. Whilst the distance alone would make this a tough challenge, the nature of the undulating terrain will have you ascending over 1700m, greater than climbing to the summit of Ben Nevis, along the dramatic coastline of this UNESCO World Heritage site.

We’ll head down late afternoon on Friday 5th April and get to know each other over dinner. We’ll start our trek after an early breakfast on Saturday 6th and head home, tired but happy, that evening.

Not sure you’re up to 30km? Don’t worry, there will be a half-way option if you don’t want to do the whole trek.

Find out more and sign up now.

Can’t do any of the above?

Our friends at the Foxley Kingham Anniversary Foundation are running a whole variety of events to support Level Trust and other great local causes this year.Find out more about their plans.
