NEW GATES FOR HIGH TOWN METHODIST CHURCH
The main front gates at High Town’s Methodist Church disappeared
many years ago – date unknown but possibly sometime during the
first half of the last century
They have, however, now been replaced with a new set of gates
specially designed to complement the existing decorative wrought
iron work that forms the frontage of the Church and adjacent halls.
The new gates now provide an extra layer of security to the buildings
and, more importantly, to the many people who use them.
At the same time they have considerably enhanced both the appearance of
the Church’s frontage and also that particular area of High Town
once known – aptly perhaps – as `Paradise Place’!
Their cost was met by a grant from Luton Borough Council’s `Your
Say, Your way’ funding scheme and the Church is most grateful to
them – and to High Town’s strategic Community Services Officers –
for the help and support that made their replacement possible.
