Services for People who have a Learning Disability (SPLD)

Services for People who have a Learning Disability (SPLD) are a specialist team for people over the age of 18 with a Learning Disability. We cover Bedfordshire and Luton.

As part of our ongoing work on reducing health inequalities within Learning Disabilities, we are keen to forge new links within those areas of the population that we have not previously engaged with. We provide a range of health related support on a referral basis, to those people who may struggle to access mainstream services.

Some of the work that is undertaken is to encourage people with a Learning Disability to access an Annual Health Check with their GP. This is important and may help to identify previously unknown illnesses. Alongside this, we support the uptake of national screening programmes, which again may help to notice issues before they become worse.

If you know someone with a Learning Disability, or someone who cares for someone with a Learning Disability then please direct them to our website or ask them to call 01234 310589 for further information.

There is an attachment which is 28 pages PDF presentation about what is available. Please feel free to download it.
