CHURCHES TOGETHER IN LUTON ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

At the Chiltern Hotel, Luton on 9th May 2026

Welcome.   Tony Thompson welcomed everyone and introduced a few people. Two people present had published books which were available for sale after the meeting.

After breakfast, he led brief business as below and introduced our speaker, Gemma Milligan from Youthscape speaking on How to respond to the increasing youth interest in Christianity

 

Annual Report /Finance

Copies of the reports were distributed via the website before the meeting and may be obtained by email to ctl_admin@tiscali.co.uk. or from the website lutonchurchestogether.org.uk

 

Election of officers.

Chair.  Tony Thompson was elected Chair for three years in 2023 and reelected for a further three years.

Vice-Chair. Michael Singleton was elected as vice-chair for three years in 2023 and reelected for a further three years.

Secretary. As there were no other offers, Sue Penn was re-elected for a further year.

Treasurer. Sue Penn is acting Treasurer.

 

Committee.

Tony Thompson (Chair), Michael Singleton (Vice-Chair), Pastor Vincent Cox, Revd. Anne Crosby, Revd. Josias De Sousa, Revd. Charmaine Mlangha, Ulriuke Hunt, and Jemimah Allen. Also Area Deans Mgr Kevin McGinnell, Revd Patrick Kandeh.

Anglican Area Dean, Revd David Kesterton has retired and his place on the committee is being taken by the new Area Dean, Revd Jairo Nyaongo.

Peter Adams (interfaith) and Sue Penn (secretary/Treasurer) are co-opted.

There was general consent and this was approved.

 

Presentation.

 

Gemma gave an interesting talk about todays youth and their interest in Christianity. There is an increase in bible sales and other ways to indicate growth. She gave us some questions to consider in groups and then discuss.
