Please note these sessions have been cancelled. Making of Black Britain -project with Diane-Louise Jordan

Erin Sparks is a post-graduate student working with Diane-Louise Jordan as part of her MOBB project (Making of Black Britain) recording personal histories of people following the opening up of the UK to immigration.
She is currently recruiting members of the vibrant and diverse Luton community (aged 18+) to participate in her final major project for her master’s degree in Storytelling. Storytelling in this context refers to the exchange of stories about lived experiences as opposed to fictional creative writing.
This project will consist of 2 in-person workshops (on7/9/24 and 14/9/24) where participants will have the opportunity to share a personal story from their life living in Luton and then later explore creative methods of expressing their story through music. Participants do not need to have any previous musical ability to contribute as they will be fully supported in the co-creation process of their story soundtrack. The focus of this project is to empower members of the community to share their perspectives on their life in Luton and have their voice heard and validated by their community. The workshops are intended to improve participants confidence as they take ownership of their personal narrative, and push themselves creatively. The final story outcomes created by participants with support, will reflect a cross-section of Luton, giving authentic insights into the town’s history and celebrating its diverse population.
Anyone wanting to be part of this exciting project should apply directly to Erin by 1st September  via email E.C.Sparks-20@student.lboro.ac.uk where further details will be given.
Many thanks,
Tony Thompson and Peter Adams on behalf of Erin.
