Who we are

An ecumenical body, in plain terms

Churches Together in Luton was founded in 1990, the same year as its parent body. Ecumenical is a long word for a simple idea: churches of different traditions choosing to talk to one another rather than past one another.

In practice that means Roman Catholic, Greek Orthodox and most Protestant churches sitting at the same table. Not agreeing on everything, because they do not, but agreeing that a town is better served by churches that know each other than by churches that do not.

We keep the Luton Churches Directory, we pray for the town, we pass on what is happening, and we point people towards the congregation nearest to them.

Who to speak to

The people behind it

Churches Together in Luton is run by people from the churches themselves. If you are not sure who to ask, start with either of these two.

Safeguarding

Churches Together in Luton has a safeguarding policy covering how we look after children and adults at risk in anything we run. If you have a concern about somebody's safety, raise it with the safeguarding lead at the church involved, and in an emergency call 999.

Come and find us

Whichever church you end up in, you are welcome in all of them

Whether you are new to Luton, new to church, or have been here longer than any of us, there is a congregation near you and somebody in it glad you turned up.
